Question 2: In the video clip, a small group of students are beginning their school day. They sing a song to welcome each other to school. While in the circle area, the students work as a group to complete a number of academic activities related to the calendar, numbers, color recognition, and body part recognition, among other topics. How does the teacher maintain student engagement while integrating both social-skills and academic instruction? Is this a valid use of time?

I do like the idea of having the students work in the group format for the content that was being presented, however, at times, it seemed the teacher were presenting too many distractions at once. They were trying to get the students to point to items, sing, and do actions with the music. I noticed some of the children seemed confused and were not following along. The teacher does manage incorporating content and questions over the content with the students, while having the students answer questions amongst the group. I like the overall idea, however, I might lower the amount of distractions at different periods of time. I love the content she had the students work together on while in the group setting.
